Abhyanga

Abhyanga

The corner stone of Ayurvedic treatments is an Abhyanga massage. It is a 1 hour massage, 30min on your front and 30min on your back. This massage has specific strokes which help “arrange” the 5 elements in the body which will balance your body constitution or dosha. We use warm organic medicated oils for all our treatments. Depending on your dosha we will select the correct oil that would suit your specific needs. Remember that the skin is the largest organ of the body; it produces naturally occurring antidepressants, anti-cancer and anti-aging substances, as well as hormones that help enhance circulation. A treatment like this will help keep all these uses of the skin at optimum levels while at the same time relaxing you physically and mentally.

Shirodhara

Shirodhara

Shirodhara is the process of pouring either oil, milk or buttermilk from a bowl in a soothing slow rhythm from side to side on your forehead. Shirodhara and abhyanga are the two classic Ayurvedic treatments. If your looking for 2 hours of relaxation and rejuvenation then book an abhyanga and a shirodhara right after each other, together they create the most soothing 2 hours of your day. With each successive Shirodhara treatment, the mind systematically achieves an even deeper state of silence and more healing takes place. Regular treatments are the best way to achieve a good state of mental health.

Bolus Bag

Bolus Bag

The Bolus Bag treatmenets are the some of the deepest treatments that Ayurveda has to offer. This is because we not only use warm medicated oil like the Abhyanga treatment but we also use herbs, spices and leafs in a poultice during the massage. Of course the specific herbs will change depending on the person and their disbalance. It has similiar movements as the Abyhanga treatments but it goes much deeper into the system because of the medicine and the increased heat that is used. This treatment is 1 hour long, 30 minutes on your back and 30 on your front. Because of the herbs and spices used in the Bolus Bag the colour of the spices (normally yellow) will remain on the skin for a couple of days, so make sure to wear clothing that you wouldnt mind getting a little spicy.

Local Vasti

Local Vasti

This treatment, Vasti, is a 30 minute treatment done in one area of the body the entire time, but because it focuses on one area only it can be extremely beneficial. This treatment can be done anywhere along the spine or on the knees. It is especially helpful for any bone related conditions because it goes deep into that area. We use warm medicated oil depending on what you need and will massage the area afterwards to make sure you get the most amount of oil into your system as possible. This treatments works especially well when done for multiple consecutive days and/or with other treatments.

Muckabhyanga - Face Massage

Muckabhyanga - Face Massage

This 30 minute treatment is done exclusivle on your face, with some work on your ears and neck. It is a slow paced relaxing massage to help your eyes, ears, nose, throat, mouth/jaw and your skin to of course. It is a great way to help calm your mind for daily life or to prepare for bed. This massage works especially well in tandem with the Muckabhyanga or face massage. The benefits for the two are very similiar but it slightly diffent areas, which means that the benefits are able to go even deeper into our system while not overwhelming it.

This is a 30 imnute massage that is done on the upper arms, shoulders, neck and head. We use warm medicated oil that will be chosen for your specific needs and movements that are all in place to help the body process and eliminate old and new toxins. This is a great treatment because of its simplicity, it does not entail complicated moves or procedures but it is able to relax and sooth your muscle, tendons, nerves and even the ever busy mind. The benefits for the two are very similiar but it slightly diffent areas, which means that the benefits are able to go even deeper into our system while not overwhelming it.

Ayurvedic Consultation

ayurvedic consultation

An Ayurvedic consultant is an individual who is trained to conduct Ayurvedic assessments/consultations and make recommendations using Ayurveda. The consultant will determine your Dosha or prakuti. From there he/she will determine the imbalance within your body and mind. Then the consultant can create an individualized treatment plan, which often includes diet, exercise, herbs, yoga, meditation, and massage. The plan generally focuses on restoring balance to one particular Dosha first then moving onto the next (if needed).

What to expect ?

An Ayurvedic Consultation is typically 2 hours long, the reason it is so long is because we need one hour to ask our questions, talk about your complaints and check your pulse, tongue and eyes. The second hour is to talk about things to change in your diet and lifestyle, also to talk about Ayruveda and answer any questions that may arise.

Things you will want to think about before arriving is what your complaints and goals are, what has changed in your life physically and mentally.

How to prepare ?

The only way to 'prepare' for an Ayurvedic consultation is to be as 'clean' as possible. What that means is not too hungry or starving, if your stomach is too full or empty it will be difficult to find your correct pulse. Not having a very busy or stressful day is helpful as well.

The best time of the day to do a consultation is in the morning, that is when we are at our most calm and open.

Panchakarma

Heart of Leafs

Panchakarma is the detox and rejuvination program for not only your body but also your imnd and soul and all of it stems from Ayurveda and its vast pool of knowledge. Panchakarma is the process of any variety of treatments but on a daily basis, it could be as little as 3 days all the way to 29 days (the more days the deeper it goes).

Panchakarma is known to be a powerful way to not only remove toxins and impurities from the body and mind but also to help your body and mind learn waht it means and feels like to be more balanced and healthy. Viveda strives to make it deep and powerful experience.

Panchakarma like Ayurveda is simple in its essence, but also like Ayurveda it goes very deep. So deep that you will still be processing the experience years later and craving to continue the process and becoming or staying balanced.

Yoga

Tree Pose Outside

We all know what Yoga is now but Ayurveda is still growing on this side of the earth. Did you know that Ayurveda and Yoga are actually sisters? They were made to work together, in unison to aid the body, mind and soul in becoming or staying balanced. While Ayurveda is a real lifestyle, Yoga is more of one of the activities that you can do within your lifestyle. Yoga is something that you can do with a teracher but also once you learn it you can do it at home at your own pace and time. One reason that Yoga and Ayurveda really are so good is because they are simple and can be done almost anywhere, maybe when you are in line at the bank you can move your eyes in a circle to help your vision or maybe when at home cooking you can go into warrior pose to get ready for the digestion process to come.

Viveda specializes in Kundalini and Yin Yoga. Come and ask us what we can do for you.
